Heavy paper, pretty much card, with a medium horizontal grain.
The paper would actually be two medium weight high grain sheets, glued together to form a single page.
The glue would be waterproof, preventing ink or watercolor from bleeding through, and to prevent the leaves from separating.
There would be 100 of these sheets.
The spine would be designed to splay at the binding for the pages, so two pages can be opened up and flat, rather than curved like glued pages.
Each page would be individually bound into the book.
To remove pages, it would come with a small knife, capable of cutting only one page deep.
It would have a composite wood cover, unglazed, but sanded smooth. Ideal for surface customization.
It would have a ribbon bookmark attached to it's spine.
It would have a folding board edge cover with lock (And key) to hold it shut, and protect it's pages' edges from damage while being transported. (These exist, but they all use magnets. Nobody puts locks on books, and they should.)
The edges of the pages would be dipped in gold paint. Because it's sexy.
Between every page would be a thin sheet of waterproof paper, which is easily removed, to prevent wet pages from staining or sticking to each other.
The pages would all be square. (By angle. In actuality, they'd be rectangles)
Although the cover will have rounded corners, the pages will be very sharp cornered, for potential framing or scanning.
And it would all be acid free.
And it would cost a mother fucking fortune to produce.
Still, it'd be worth it. So many sketch books are just garbage, I'm starting to get desperate enough I may try to make my own! Not as ambitious as this design, perhaps, but certainly something WITHOUT the glued binding that falls apart, without the soft cover and without the "tear on the dotted line" things which slowly fold themselves as you turn the pages and eventually leave your book falling apart!

I get my kicks above the waistline, sunshine.
Honestly, it's MADE for containing bad art. It's a sketch book.
But even practice and experiments deserve to be protected. Just in case you get a good one.

I just carry around a bag crammed full of a random assortment of papers. Gods, I do NOT take care of my artwork at ALL.

Why do you make Leo cry?!
Paper needs to be flat and unwrinkled! protected from water, sunlight and acidity! And that goes for most drawing supplies, too!
That's why I get so annoyed with these floppy paper-cover sketch books! You can't take them with you, so what's the point in buying the damned things?!
A sketch book needs to survive! It needs to last!

And plus, I just end up using the dog eared, wrinkled and torn papers to artistic use!
.... wait, Leo?

I was amazed by the quality, and handed over my thirty-five dollars.
Only to realize when I got home...
It had a Mother-fucking hidden pocket/lumpy ass thing in the back that you absolutely CAN'T remove without making more lumpies, so it's not a flat surface to draw on.
...
I was like... What the fuck? Hidden pocket? Goddamnit.

"I don't care HOW your hips are moving, that Umbrella is definitely not THAT sexy..."
